Police Sunshine List Grows

The London Police Service has added 20 employees to the Sunshine List in 2014, bringing the total to 212.

Of those who banked more than $100,000, 68 of them were constables.

Officials say overtime and special assignments pushed those employees over the $100,000 mark. Typically, the top salary for a constable employed by the London Police Service is near $92,000.

"45 of them were a result of special paid duties, so those are dollars that are paid to the organization to have officers come out and do security, it could be bars and those types of establishments," says Deputy Chief John Pare. "There was a contract in place in 2014 that saw a slight increase in the officers' salaries, which pushed them closer to that $100,000 mark. It doesn't take much in terms of overtime or court time for that number to leap higher."

Unionized employees at the London Police Service are set to negotiate a new contract this year.
