Shad To Replace Disgraced Ghomeshi As Host Of 'Q'

Former Londoner Shad will become the new host of the popular CBC radio show 'Q' when it re-launches in April.

The CBC made the announcement late Wednesday night.

In a news release the broadcaster says staff conducted a massive search for a new host, interviewing more than 200 people.

The rapper was born in Kenya, but grew up in London and attended London Central Secondary School. His debut album was released in 2005.

Former CBC Radio 'Q' host Jian Ghomeshi was fired last year after officials say they had viewed "graphic evidence" that he had caused harm to a woman. Ghomeshi then took to social media to defend himself, saying a scored ex-girlfriend was attacking his reputation and he liked to partake in rough, yet always consensual sex.

After being fired several women came forward with stories of alleged sexual abuse at the hand of Ghomeshi.

The 47-year-old now faces seven counts of sexual assault and one of overcoming resistance by choking.

Guest hosts have been filling in since Ghomeshi was fired.

Shad will take over in mid-April. He has been guest hosting 'Q' throughout the year.
