Man Arrested For Impersonating A Police Officer

A London man has been charged after allegedly decking out his car with emergency lights and a siren to impersonate a police officer.

The London Police Service says on Thursday around 6:28pm in the area of Commissioners Rd. and Leathorne St., officers observed a silver four-door 2007 Dodge Charger with red and blue lights coming from the front and rear windows. A siren was also being used on the vehicle.

Police say other drivers were pulling over to the side of the road while the emergency lighting was activated.

Officers arrested the driver of the Dodge Charger and also found a switchblade inside the vehicle.

As a result, 50-year-old Terry Mertick of London has been charged with false representation of a peace officer and possession of a prohibited weapon.
