London Hydro Warns Of Scam

London Hydro is sending out a warning about scam artists who call customers and impersonate employees from the disconnection department.

Someone has been contacting customers. They provide an account number and say they will disconnect the service due to an outstanding balance on the account, often times demanding a specific payment amount.

London Hydro says they do not use a 1-800 number and customers are never contacted by phone to demand payment.

If a customer does have an outstanding balance, London Hydro will send a reminder notice to the home. As a last resort a representative from the company will visit the customer.

Anyone who receives a call from someone seeking payment should refuse to provide any personal information and contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
