Police Issue Internet Safety Warning

In the wake of the sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old London girl, police are asking parents to talk to their kids about Internet safety.

A New Zealand man is facing blackmail charges after police say he convinced a 16-year-old girl to send explicit photos to him then used them as leverage against her, trying to force her to perform sexual acts online.

"When using the Internet as a young person don't put anything on there that you wouldn't share with your parents or anybody else," says London Police Constable Ken Steeves. "Even the social networking sites geared towards children have pedophiles who are there exploit young children."

Steeves says it is also important to never share information about your family or your location online.
