Trees were toppled across the city by 100 km/hr winds that blew into the area on Monday afternoon.
As of Tuesday morning, London Hydro reported more than a dozen small pockets of homes across the city without power. The largest area is in SoHo, bordered by Wharncliffe Ave., Langarth St., Cathcart St. and Tecumseh Ave. (pictured). Londoners also reported flying debris, from roof shingles to small tree limbs.
Four Thames Valley public schools outside of the city will be closed on Tuesday because of power outages: Port Burwell, Hickson, East Williams and East Oxford.
At about 3:45 pm on Monday, an empty transport trailer blew over on Plank Line in southwest Oxford County, forcing OPP to close the road between Salford Rd. and McBeth Rd. for several hours. No one was hurt.
Environment Canada issued the Wind Warning Monday afternoon, covering all of southwestern Ontario, including London and Middlesex County. Reports of downed trees soon followed, including one that caused damage to Donahue Funeral Home at Waterloo St. and King St. The warning is no longer in effect.
