A local women's advocate is asking Londoners to boycott Bill Cosby's upcoming show at Budweiser Gardens amid sexual assault allegations.
The Bill Cosby: 77 tour hits London in January. Megan Walker, executive director of the London Abused Women's Centre, is asking Londoners to skip the show, given the numerous sexual assault allegations levelled against the comedian.
The most recent comes from former supermodel Janice Dickinson, who tells Entertainment Tonight Cosby drugged her and forced himself on her in 1982.
Former teen model and actress Barbara Bowman wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post earlier this month detailing an alleged assault in 1985, when she was a 17-year-old aspiring actress and Cosby was TV staple on The Cosby Show.
In 2006, Cosby settled a lawsuit with a woman who alleged he drugged and raped her in 2004. There were a total of 13 women with similar stories who agreed to testify had the case gone to trial.
Walker says she has spoken with Budweiser Gardens officials who told her the show will not be cancelled.
"I was advised there was nothing in the contract that allowed them to cancel the performance based on accusations, that concerns me a little bit. I was hoping there'd be something in the contract about community standards," Walker tells BlackburnNews.com. "Perhaps with poor ticket sales there will be no concert at all."
BlackburnNews.com has reached out to Budweiser Gardens for comment, but has not heard back as of yet.
NBC has dropped a sit-com pilot starring Cosby and Netflix has postponed the launch of the Bill Cosby: 77 comedy special.
