Chatham wide receiver impresses NFL scouts at pro day

A football player from Chatham recently got the chance to showcase his skills in front of NFL scouts.

Ethan Jordan, a wide receiver for the Laurier Golden Hawks, was invited to take part in a pro day hosted by the University of Buffalo this past Thursday.

It was an easy decision to have him there as he was coming off an amazing season with the Golden Hawks. He led the country in receptions (59), touchdowns (10), yards per game (125), and total yards (1000) by a receiver.

Jordan was also arguably the best player in the Vanier Cup last November as he recorded 11 catches for 179 yards.

"It was a great experience," said Jordan. "There was a lot of exposure, you want as many scouts and attention as you can get."

He joked he caught a few American athletes by surprise when he told them he was from Canada and was playing in U Sports.

"They don't know the schools or the talent level but they understand if I was invited then I'm there for a reason," Jordan added.

Several NFL teams have shown interest in Jordan. This includes the Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Chargers.

Jordan doesn't believe he'll be drafted in the upcoming NFL draft but believes there's a possibility of a free agent signing or an invite to a mini-training camp.

Meanwhile, Jordan will be taking part in the CFL Combine in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The three-day event gets underway on March 21.

Jordan said he's optimistic he could be drafted, in the higher rounds, if he performs well at the combine.
