CK's Konecny to play at 4 Nations Face-Off for Canada

Chatham-Kent's Travis Konecny will play for Team Canada at the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off.

The Philadelphia Flyers forward was one of 13 forwards across the National Hockey League (NHL) selected for the brand-new tournament.

Konecny was born in London but grew up in Clachan, a small community near Bothwell.

He played two and a half seasons with the Ottawa 67s and half a season with the Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Konecny donned the maple leaf three times during his OHL career. He played at the U17s, U18s, and World Juniors. He also played at the World Championship, making his latest selection the fifth time he's been chosen to play for Canada.

In 25 games this season for the Flyers, Konecny has scored 13 goals and added 17 assists for 30 points. He's currently on pace for 42 goals and 55 assists for 97 points. Each stat would be career highs for the 28-year-old.

Other players selected for Team Canada include Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Mitch Marner, Cale Makar, and Philadelphia teammate Travis Sanheim.

The 4 Nations Face-Off will take place in Montreal and Boston from February 12-20, 2025.
