Lakeshore Canadiens heading to PJHL finals

The Lakeshore Canadiens finished off the New Hamburg Firebirds in six games.

On Saturday, the Canadiens defeated the Firebirds 5-2, to take the best-of-seven semi-final series.

Trevor Larue was the hero of the game. The forward had a hattrick, which included the game-winner.

It was a come-from-behind victory. New Hamburg opened the scoring, with Owen Sculthorp and Antonio Pasqualino getting both of the team's goals in the first period.

Larue got his first goal of the game just over two minutes into the second. Eric Bisson followed that up with a second goal for the Canadiens three minutes later.

Larue closed out the second period with his second goal.

The third period saw Julian Gignac and Larue score two more goals for Lakeshore.

Gignac also had a multi-point game, assisting Larue on two of his goals.

The Canadiens swept three of their five series during the playoffs this season, beating Walpole Island, Wheatley, and Thamesford in four games. The division final series against the Essex 73s went to seven games.

Lakeshore will face either the Hanover Barons or the Clarington Eagles in the next round.
