Championship run ends for Chatham native

The Dalhousie Tigers are going for the bronze medal in the U-Sports men's basketball tournament.

Dalhousie, which includes Chatham-Kent native Marley Blommers, stumbled in the fourth quarter against the top-ranked Carleton Ravens, losing 76-65 in the U-Sports national semifinals at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax Saturday night.

The Tigers held a 56-53 over Carleton after three quarters but the Ravens went on a 23-9 run in the fourth to put the game away. Carleton will take on Calgary in the gold-medal game Sunday.

Blommers played for 11 minutes Saturday, notching two assists and three rebounds.

Dalhousie will take on Ryerson in the bronze-medal game Sunday afternoon in Halifax. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern time.
