Spitfires' Chatfield Earns NHL Contract

Windsor Spitfires defenceman, and newly minted co-captain, Jalen Chatfield is now a member of the Vancouver Canucks organization.

The 20-year-old signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL club Monday.

Chatfield joined the Spitfires as a free agent back in June of 2014, and has since amassed 17 goals and 69 assists in 188 regular season games with the team.

"It's hard to sign a professional contract," says the Ypsilanti, Michigan native. "You have to work hard and I feel that I have. It's a great feeling."

Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel says, "He came to us on a tryout three years ago. His persistence and determination earned him an NHL deal."
