Sports Briefs - December 1, 2016

The Calgary Flames got out to an early lead against the Leafs last night and never looked back.

Calgary scored two goals in the first minute of the game en route to a 3-0 win over Toronto.

Elsewhere -- the Islanders beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 -- and San Jose beat the L-A Kings 4-1.

In the OHL -- the Windsor Spitfires lost 4-1 to Sault Ste. Marie.

In the NBA -- the Toronto Raptors managed to cruise past the Memphis Grizzlies 120-105  despite turning the ball over 20 times in the game. Kyle Lowry had 29 points while DeMar DeRozan added 24 for the Raptors.

In other NBA action -- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 25 points, Tobias Harris had 21, and Drummond added 20 points and 17 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons beat Boston 121-114.

In MLS action -- Toronto FC made history by beating Montreal 7-5 on aggregate to advance to the MLS Cup final.

TFC is the first Canadian team to reach the championship game in the history of the MLS.

In MLB news -- players and owners have reached a tentative agreement on a five-year labour contract.
