The Maple Leafs spoiled James Reimer's return to Toronto last night by beating the Florida Panthers 6-1.

Reimer was in net for all six of those goals.

Meanwhile -- Chatham-Kent native Travis Konecny had an assist in the Flyers 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets -- the Ottawa Senators lost 5-1 to Nashville -- The Vancouver Canucks beat the Coyotes 3-2 in overtime -- and the L-A Kings doubled up the Edmonton Oilers 4-2.

In Junior B hockey -- London moved into a tied for first place with LaSalle thanks to an 8-2 win over the Leamington Flyers.

In Junior C -- Amherstburg downed Petrolia 7-3.

In the OHL -- the Windsor Spitfires lost 3-2 in overtime to Owen Sound -- while the Sarnia Sting fell 3-1 to Flint.

The Carolina Panthers held off New Orleans' rally in the fourth-quarter to beat the Saints 23-20 in the NFL's Thursday nighter.

Angels centre fielder Mike Trout was voted AL MVP for the second time in three seasons -- Toronto's Josh Donaldson finished fourth in voting. Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant won the NL MVP.
