Jimmy Howard stopped 36 shots as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-1. Dylan Larkin, Brendan Smith and Steve Ott all scored for Detroit.

Meanwhile -- Carey Price made 24 saves as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Kings 4-1 to remain perfect on home ice -- the Calgary Flames dropped a 4-2 decision to Dallas -- and the Winnipeg Jets edged Arizona 3-2.

In Junior B hockey -- the Leamington Flyers moved up to second place in the Western Conference after beating Lambton Shores 4-1.

In Junior C -- the Lakeshore Canadiens extended their winning streak to seven thanks to a 7-2 victory over Petrolia.

The Browns are still looking for their first win of the season. Joe Flacco threw three touchdown passes as the Baltimore Ravens beat winless Cleveland 28-7 in the NFL's Thursday nighter.

The Browns are now 0-and-10 for the first time since the team joined the NFL in 1950.

In baseball news -- Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera picked up the seventh Silver Slugger award of his career as the best offensive player at his position.

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson won the Silver Slugger for the second consecutive year.

Meantime -- Former Blue Jays knuckleballer RA Dickey has agreed to a one-year contract with the Atlanta Braves. Dickey spent the last four years in Toronto.

Crash in Tilbury claims driver's life

Chatham-Kent police reported a 44-year-old man driving a pickup truck was killed in the crash at Jeanettes Creek Road and Coutts Line around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

CK police charge woman with assault

According to Chatham-Kent police, the victim was walking around King Street East in Chatham when she was approached by a woman she didn't know and struck in the face.
