Spitfires Douse Firebirds (VIDEO)

The Windsor Spitfires beat the Flint Firebirds 5-3 in OHL action on Thursday.

The Spitfires took a 1-0 lead in the first period and extended it to a 3-1 advantage in the second. Both teams scored twice in the final period, maintaining Windsor's two goal lead for the win.

Spitfires left winger Brendan Lemieux scored one goal and had an assist. He says getting the points over Flint was important.

"We need the points. We dropped a tough one in Saginaw last week, which is unfortunate. We were hungry," he says. "Everyone was on their toes to try and get back... it was a good win, we got it done."

The Spits will take on the Firebirds once again on Saturday at 7:30pm.
