Lions, Levy Agree to Extension

The Detroit Lions and star linebacker DeAndre Levy have agreed to a new 4-year contract extension.

Levy says it feels good to get the deal done. "This is just ideal timing, kind of put it out of the way" says Levy.. "It was never high on my focus list right now but it's good to get it done and get back to work." Levy's contract was set to expire at the end of this season. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Levy, who's entering his 7th season after being drafted in the 3rd round out of Wisconsin by the Lions, had a career high 151 tackles last season.

Earlier this week Lions GM Martin Mayhew said he hoped to get Levy and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, who also becomes a free agent at seasons end, inked to new deals soon.
