Corrente Values Time In C-K

When she's not sliding down a sheet of ice at breakneck speeds, Chatham's Julia Corrente likes to spend some time with family and friends in her hometown.

The Bobsleigh Canada pilot says it's really nice to come home for the summer.

"Living out of a suitcase for eight months of the year can be a lot to take in, so to be able to come home and relax, but also have the support around me here has been amazing," says Corrente.

But she's not sitting around or spending her "off-season" relaxing.

"I'm at the gym, I'm lifting weights, I'm at the track sprinting," says Corrente. "Bobsled is combination of Olympic weightlifting and sprinting together to have the power and the speed -- the explosiveness for the push at the start."

Corrente is currently training six days a week in Chatham and trying to draw more sponsors to support her dream of competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.
