Konecny Takes First Step Toward NHL Dream

A Chatham-Kent native will get his first taste of being an NHLer.

Clachan's Travis Konecny will lace up the skates today when the Philadelphia Flyers open their week-long development camp. After he got drafted the 18-year-old says Flyers brass didn't say too much about his role or expectations

"Little things, just saying congrats, welcome to the team, and talking to coaches they were just welcoming me, and saying they were looking forward to working with me," says Konecny. "Other than that I'm gonna move into development camp and just keep getting feedback and see what happens." Konecny says his goal is to make the Flyers roster this season.

The Ottawa 67's captain was selected 24th overall in the first round of the NHL draft just over a week ago.
