Tecumseh Chiefs Make Final Appeal

The fate of Tecumseh's new Junior C hockey team hangs in the balance of one final appeal.

Hockey Canada confirms it has received an appeal fighting for the Tecumseh Chiefs hockey franchise to move forward.

The Ontario Hockey Association approved the move, but after five of the nine teams voted against it, the Ontario Hockey Federation overruled the previous decision. They say the league isn't sustainable with more than nine teams.

Hockey Canada officials refused a telephone interview with BlackburnNews.com. Instead, in an email, they say the National Appeals Committee will hear the merits of the appeal.

"We won't add further comments or (be) answering any questions on this," says Hockey Canada spokesperson Francis Dupont.
