Phaneuf Calls Windsor Good Fit

The Lancer men's latest hockey recruit says Windsor seemed like the right destination.

Defenceman Dane Phaneuf says the strength of the program was a factor. "They seemed really interested in me and I was interested in being a part of their team there and their program," says Phaneuf. "So I felt like it was the best fit for me."

The 21-year old is the younger brother of current Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf. Dane says he talks to his brother every day, but hasn't talked to him about the recent signing of new Leafs head coach Mike Babcock. As for having a famous brother, who's also a hockey player, Dane says it's no different than any other sibling relationship.

He's never been to Windsor but is looking forward to seeing the city and hopes to pursue a degree in General Arts and Business.
