Chatham Goodfellows open Christmas hamper registration

The Chatham Goodfellows are now taking registrations for their 72nd annual "No Child Without a Christmas" Campaign.

Starting November 1, People who have signed up for a Christmas hamper in the past can now register online.

Registration for new clients will start on November 9.

Existing and new clients will have until December 4 to fill out the registration, which involves answering "basic questions."

"We don't need your information on how much you make. If you're in need, we need to know that you're in need and that's all we really ask for," said Tim Haskell with the Chatham Goodfellows.

One of the questions asked is how many kids will need a hamper, but Haskell added that even if you don't have children you can still register.

"If you have any [kids], doesn't matter. You can call in anyway. So, we just want to get that information correct so that we can make sure that you get the right basket," Haskell explained.

The hampers include toys, food, and gift certificates for boots or shoes.

Last year, the organization helped just under 1,700 Chatham-Kent families, thanks to a total of $265,000 in cash donations.

As it's early in the campaign, many important dates have yet to be announced. However, the Chatham Goodfellows Porchlight Campaign will take place on November 30, and Street Sales will happen on December 11 and 12.
