Assault with a Weapon

Two men have been charged following a brawl involving several people near downtown Chatham.

Police said they received a report of an assault involving a knife in the area of the Third Street Bridge and St. Clair Street in Chatham on Wednesday evening.

The knife believed to have been involved in the incident was recovered, police said.

According to police, a 38-year-old Harwich Township man was found with an injury to his ear and has been charged with assault with a weapon.

An 18-year-old Chatham man was found with a small wound to his lip and an ankle injury and is facing an assault charge.

Stolen Vehicle

Multiple charges have been laid against a youth in connection to a car that was stolen in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police allege the 17-year-old from Dover Township was found driving the car on Pain Court Line on Wednesday afternoon, approximately two hours after the car was stolen, and was arrested without incident.

He was released into the care of a guardian, noted police.

The teen is facing charges of mischief, vehicle theft, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Arson/Stolen Vehicle

Chatham-Kent police need help solving a case involving a vehicle stolen in Windsor that was later set ablaze in Wheatley.

Police said emergency crews responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the Third Concession bridge in Wheatley early Thursday morning.

A licence plate reported stolen in a separate Windsor incident was also located on the vehicle.
