Police are searching for a Chatham native who escaped from a correctional facility in Kingston.
Corrections Canada and Kingston police reported on Thursday that Mason Jenkins, 49, formerly of Chatham, was missing during a head count at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston on Thursday morning.
Jenkins is serving a life sentence for murdering his sister in Chatham in 1998.
Jenkins is described as a white man, 5-feet 9-inches tall, approximately 255 lbs. with a fair complexion, brown eyes and brown hair, and currently has a shaved head. He was last seen wearing a light green jacket, blue jeans, and rubber boots.

Kingston police warn the public to not approach Jenkins and contact 9-1-1 immediately.
According to a documentary about the murder called Life with Murder, 18-year-old Jennifer Jenkins was brutally shot to death with a rifle in her family home by her brother, Mason Jenkins, who fled the scene of the crime.
