CK Senior of the Year award given to Merlin resident

A Merlin resident has been named Chatham-Kent's (CK) Senior of the Year.

David Middleton was given the award on Wednesday during the annual Aging Well Conference.

He was chosen for his work in the North Buxton community. This includes his time on the North Buxton Community Club, the Buxton National Historic Site & Museum, and with the North Buxton Community Church.

"Perhaps what sets David apart most is his unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. He has become known throughout the community as the person to call when something needs to be built, repaired, organized, or accomplished," read a statement from the Municipality of CK.

Middleton was one of 14 seniors recognized at the conference. Each was up for the Senior of the Year, with the CK Celebration of Older Adults Committee ultimately choosing to give it to Middleton.

Over 1,000 seniors have been recognized for their work across CK since the award was introduced 38 years ago.
