It hasn't been reviewed or verified yet, but Crowfest organizers believe a Guiness World Record was broken on Thursday night.
During the Flight of the Caesar event at Sons of Kent, 1,261.42 litres of liquid were poured to create the World's Largest Caesar Cocktail. That included 1,095 litres of Clamato Juice, 17 litres of Worcestershire sauce, 11 litres of hot sauce, six litres of Lemon Juice, and 137 litres of Bootlegger Distillery Vodka.
"In Guinness World Records guidelines, we need at least three ingredients: vodka, tomato juice, and Worcestershire sauce," said Andrew Thiel, Crowfest Co Chair. "We are also adding celery salt, lemon juice and a pickle, as we all know you can't have a Canadian Caesar without a pickle."
The drink was made on stage by volunteers and filmed start to finish. Adjudicator Luke Davidson and two official witnesses were also present to document the feat.
With any Guinness World Record attempt involving food or drink, it requires the substance to be consumed in order to set or break the record. To make sure it was done, all the guests in attendance, who were of legal drinking age, were welcomed to grab a glass from the giant cocktail.
If the record keeping organization agrees that the requirements were met, Chatham-Kent will be documented as holding the world record for a second time.
Currently, the record is held by Birmingham's Pub in Regina, which created a Caesar with 1,050 litres worth of ingredients.
The World's Largest Caesar Cocktail isn't the only record to be attempted at Crowfest. A full list can be found here.
The festival runs until Saturday.
