Windsor man charged with robbery in Chatham

A Windsor man has been charged for allegedly robbing a woman in a Chatham parking lot.

According to Chatham-Kent (CK) police, the victim was approached by the man around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday outside a business on Grand Avenue West.

They say the man asked for a ride, but after being told no, he grabbed her wrist and tried to take her phone.

After a brief struggle, the woman was able to get away from the man.

Officers were able to find the man and arrest him. He's since been charged with robbery and failing to comply with an undertaking.

Police say the man also breached his court conditions as he was prohibited from entering CK except for court appearances.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
