CKHA's pediatric team reaches full complement with new specialist

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) pediatric team is now fully staffed after adding a new pediatrician.

CKHA announced on Friday that Dr. Jashan Uppal will be joining the hospital’s Women and Children’s department. Her addition gives the hospital six experienced specialists, according to CKHA.

Dr. Uppal earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Kasturba Medical College in India in 2021 and completed her Pediatrics Residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit from 2023 to 2026.

She hopes to provide evidence-based care while supporting patients through every stage of their growth and development, adding that returning to Canada has always been a primary goal.

“I’m incredibly excited to join CKHA because it gives me the opportunity to return to Canada and serve the Chatham-Kent community while practicing the kind of pediatrics I value most -- compassionate, family-centred care,” said Dr. Uppal. “My training at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan has given me broad experience caring for children with a wide range of medical needs, from common childhood concerns to more complex conditions, and I look forward to bringing that experience to my practice at CKHA."

Dr. Uppal said the opportunity to build meaningful, long-term relationships with children and their families is what she values most.

CKHA noted her expertise and dedication to patient-centered care, along with her commitment to clinical excellence will be a tremendous asset to the hospital and the Chatham-Kent community.

Health care providers can send patient referrals to the pediatric team via fax at 519-358-1586.
