It's been five years since an explosion rocked the community of Wheatley.
On August 26, 2021, two buildings were destroyed and several others were damaged when hydrogen sulphide gas from an undocumented well ignited.
Twenty people were injured, with a number of them needing to be treated at the hospital.
It's a memory many in Wheatley would like to forget. One person who still remembers the explosion vividly is Joshua Ottolino.
"I was at home, and you could hear it all the way from my house," he explained.
Ottolino lived just a few blocks away from the site. Despite living close by, he had no idea what had happened.
"I had no clue at all; I don't think anybody did," added Ottolino.
It wasn't just people in Wheatley who felt the blast. Nick Collard was at home, between Wheatley and Leamington, when he felt what he could only describe as an earthquake.
Just like Ottolino, Collard had no idea what had just happened.
"I started seeing videos on Facebook, and I came into town, but everything was closed off," he explained.
The site of the explosion has since been cleared. There are currently plans to turn the area into a park.
According to Collard, the community has come a long way in five years, but there will always be a hole left unfilled.
"We had a bar; it was just getting good. Everyone was going there; it was the spot to be. MJ's was our pizza place at the time; it was a good spot. We also had a Subway. We lost a lot of good restaurants," he explained.
