Chatham financial advsior running in CK election

A financial advisor is looking to be elected to Chatham-Kent's (CK) next municipal council.

Marc Westerman is running in Ward 6, looking to be one of two councillors representing people in north-west Chatham.

He told CK News Today he decided to put his name forward because he believes there needs to be greater focus on listening to the public.

"I want to bring that approach to council. Listen first, ask good questions, and then work together towards responsible solutions," said Westerman.

He wants the next council to take a long look at improving taxes, the municipality's spending, infrastructure, housing, public safety, and economic development.

Westerman believes any decisions on these key issues should first be discussed with the public.

"I want to bring residents into these conversations," he added.

When asked why people should vote for him, Westerman explained that the public will hear from him just as much as he'd hear from them.

"I believe that the best ideas for Chatham-Kent don't always begin at the council table; more often, they begin at the dinner table with families talking about what matters to them and what they're struggling with," he said.

CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
