Construction on the bridge on Dufferin Avenue over Running Creek starts on Friday.
The bridge is just west of Wallaceburg, between Mirwin Road and Highway 40 North to Sarnia.
According to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Dufferin Avenue will be completely closed to vehicles and pedestrians at the bridge site for the duration of the project. Boaters will also be unable to get by the site, during this time.
The first phase of construction is expected to last for a week, from Friday, July 31 to Friday, August 7. Construction should be completely finished by December 15.
The rehabilitation includes the removal and replacement of the concrete bridge deck, replacement of the bearing pads, repairs to the concrete girders, drainage improvements, waterproofing, and the installation of guiderails and asphalt surfaces.
Detour signage will be posted in the area.
Businesses on Dufferin Avenue between Mirwin Road and St. Clair Parkway will remain open during construction.
