One of Tilbury's more respected figures is being recognized with a new walking path.
Around 50 gathered on Tuesday in Memorial Park to celebrate the opening of the Bryon Fluker Memorial Trail.

Fluker passed away in 2022 after serving over 40 years in public office. He was first elected to Tilbury Town Council in 1972 and later served as the community's mayor for eight years.
Fluker was also a Chatham-Kent (CK) councilor for around 20 years after the municipality's amalgamation.
Melissa Harrigan, who ended his political career by beating him in the 2018 election, was among those who spoke at the unveiling. She reminisced about her childhood, seeing Fluker often out for walks.
"Almost every day, we would see him walking and [my mom] would say to us, 'That's the mayor of Tilbury, wave to the mayor of Tilbury," she laughed.
Harrigan had nothing but good things to say about Fluker.
"He truly was a local councillor who walked the walk and talked the talk," she added.
Multiple people spoke at the trail unveiling, including CK Mayor Darrin Canniff, Councillor Lauren Anderson, a past student of Fluker, a former Tilbury reporter, and multiple friends.
