Disturbance in Chatham

Chatham-Kent (CK) police have arrested two people after a disturbance in Chatham.

At around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, CK police responded to a home on Sandy Street following reports of a disturbance taking place.

Police report that a woman and man were arguing when they arrived on scene.

After investigating, officers learned that both people were wanted before the court.

A 39-year-old Chatham man and a 38-year-old Chatham woman were arrested on the strength of a warrant for failure to attend court.

The man remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing and the woman has been released on an undertaking with an October court date.

Impaired driver travelling on the wrong side of the road

A woman has been arrested by CK police after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road while intoxicated.

At roughly 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to Poplar Street in Chatham following a vehicle complaint.

Police located the vehicle and report that the driver was seen travelling on the wrong side of the road.

A traffic stop was initiated, and police formed grounds to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol.

A 58-year-old woman has been arrested, and CK police charged her with two counts of operating while impaired.

She has since been released on an undertaking with an August court date.

Theft

A Chatham man is facing theft charges after he allegedly stole goods from unlocked cars.

Police responded to Victoria Street in Blenheim at around 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, where they saw the man, who is known to police, enter an unlocked vehicle and remove several items.

CK police arrested the 44-year-old man and charged him with theft under $5,000.

He has since been released on an undertaking with a future court date.
