40+ bed retirement residence coming to Tilbury

A new retirement home is set to open in Tilbury.

Lasalle Tilbury Retirement Residence announced it is opening after securing the old Tilbury Manor Long-term Care Home, located at 16 Fort Street.

According to owners, the family-run residence is already garnering enthusiasm from the Tilbury community.

"We're overwhelmed in a great way," said co-owner Anna Sannuto. "We've had many local residents, families, healthcare providers, and community organizations reach out to welcome us and express interest in the residence."

The home will also add roughly 20 jobs to the area, including nursing and personal support, dietary, housekeeping, maintenance, recreation, administration, and management positions.

The new retirement residence is set to have 46 beds in total with a mix of private and semi-private units. It will also have a range of affordable prices.

The team is currently modernizing the space by painting, updating the floors, bathrooms, and light fixtures.

"We recognized the building's potential and, more importantly, the need for additional retirement living options in Tilbury," Sannuto continued. "We want to create a warm and welcoming home where local seniors can continue living in the community they know and love."

The main floor, including roughly 22 beds and a dining area, is set to open at the end of August, with phase two of construction following close behind.
