Wallaceburg restaurant owner running in CK election

The owner of The Black Goose Grill in Wallaceburg is hoping to be elected to Chatham-Kent's next municipal council.

Mark Childs is running to be one of two Ward 5 councillors.

He told CK News Today that he decided to run because he simply wants to make a difference.

"[I want] to help the community with any issues they may have and bring them forward to council and try to resolve as many issues as I can," explained Childs.

He believes the community's top priorities are housing, the homeless crisis, and taxes. As for himself, he wants to do more research before identifying any issues he wants to see properly addressed.

"Every day, I'm on my computer after work researching and looking at previous council meetings, looking at the budget, looking at everything that needs to be done with the municipality," explained Childs.

When asked why people should vote for him, Childs said the one thing he can promise is that he'll be the hardest worker.

"I believe in putting 100 per cent into anything I do, and I will do the same with council." he added.

Voters will head to the polls on October 26, 2026.
