Air quality risks and extreme heat heading for Southwestern Ontario this week

Environment Canada has announced another heat warning for Southwestern Ontario.

The alert says it could reach highs of 30 to 36 degrees with humidex values of 38 to 45.

The organization noted that Tuesday will be the peak of the heat wave, reaching 36 degrees in some areas.

The yellow warning reminds people that extreme heat can affect everyone's health. People are asked to watch for early signs of heat exhaustion, stay hydrated, turn on air conditioning or open windows if it's cooler outside, limit direct sun exposure, and plan outdoor activities for the coolest part of the day.

The high temperatures and humid air could also lead to deteriorating air quality.

Environment Canada issued the alert for Monday and expects it to last until either Wednesday or Thursday evening.
