The nation's birthday will cause some closures across the municipality on Wednesday.
Municipal offices and most services will be closed for Canada Day. This includes Fleet Services, Housing Services, Employment and Social Services, and administration offices for Emergency Services.
Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission will also be shut for the holiday, as will some provincial services, including the courts and Service Ontario.
CK Public Health will be closed on Wednesday, though anyone suffering a health emergency can call the after-hours service at 519-352-7270.
Some health care services offered at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance's Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will be altered in recognition of Canada Day.
Hemodialysis Care, Emergency Departments, and scheduled tests will be available to patients on Wednesday, all other services will be closed.
All Leaf and Yard Depots and Waste Depots will be closed on Wednesday. Curbside garbage and recycling pickup will be delayed on July 1 and for the rest of the week. Residents are urged to check the municipality's 2026 Recycling and Waste Collection Guide for further details.
Public transport users will need to find another way to get around on Wednesday, as Ride CK Transit services won't be operating.
All arenas will be closed, but pools will be open for scheduled free swims.
Public libraries will be shut as will most galleries, museums, and theatres.
The Capitol Theatre will be open for a free movie showing of Turning Red at 3 p.m. Doors will open at 2 p.m. for other family-friendly activities as well.
