A 30-year-old man from Etobicoke has been charged with drug trafficking following two raids in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent (CK) police said officers seized approximately $30,000 worth of cocaine and fentanyl on Tuesday from homes on McNaughton Avenue East and Selkirk Street in Chatham.

Police said a total of 11 people were arrested during the raids, but all except the accused were released.

The search warrants were issued as part of an on-going investigation into suspected drug trafficking involving fentanyl and cocaine, noted CK police.

Police reported they seized the following items:

Approximately 100 grams of fentanyl

Approximately 100 grams of cocaine

Cell phones

A digital scale

Packaging materials

A large quantity of Canadian cash

The suspect has been charged with two counts of possession of fentanyl and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

CK police said they will continue to work collaboratively across units and with external partners to identify, investigate, and hold those responsible for bringing illegal drugs into Chatham-Kent accountable to safeguard public safety and enhance the community's well-being.

"The Chatham-Kent Police Service remains firmly committed to disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking networks operating within our community. This includes proactively targeting individuals and organized groups that attempt to transport and distribute illegal substances into Chatham-Kent from outside jurisdictions," said CK police. "Through intelligence-led enforcement, strategic partnerships, and coordinated operations, our officers will continue to take decisive action against those who profit from the sale of dangerous drugs. These efforts are focused not only on enforcement, but also on reducing the availability of substances that contribute to addiction, violence, and broader community harm."
