Assault Charges

A 15-year-old Chatham girl has turned herself in at Chatham-Kent police headquarters following allegations of an assault at a park in Chatham.

Police say two 13-year-old youths were assaulted at Taylor Park at 178 King Street East in Chatham last Tuesday night.

According to police, one victim ended up with minor injuries.

Investigators said the victims were at the park to meet friends when they were confronted by a group of youths who harassed them. One victim was assaulted after attempting to distance themselves, while the other victim was physically restrained.

Assault with a Weapon

Assault charges have been laid against a 30-year-old woman from Chatham-Kent after she allegedly threw a can of beer at the victim.

Chatham-Kent police said a woman reported being assaulted by an unknown woman on March 26 at a home on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg.

According to police, the complainant gave a description of the suspect and video evidence showing the suspect approaching her, asking to use her phone, and then throwing a can of beer at her chest when refused.

Someone later identified the suspect in a Facebook group and the commenter confirmed the suspect’s identity, said police.

The accused was arrested by Walpole Island police on Monday night and charged.
