Woman escapes harrowing, dangerous situation in Chatham

A Chatham man has been charged with multiple offences after an 18-year-old woman was threatened with a knife in downtown Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police alleged the 23-year-old man from Chatham threatened the woman with a knife during an altercation inside a vehicle on King Street East on Tuesday night.

Police said the victim was able to escape safely and later reported the incident to police.

She received minor injuries.

The accused faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering death threats, and failing to comply with a probation order.
