Ridgetown senior charged after woman assaulted

A 70-year-old man has been charged for allegedly assaulting a 63-year-old woman.

On Monday, Chatham-Kent (CK) police were called to a home in Chatham for a domestic dispute.

When the police arrived, they found a woman with non-life-threatening injuries who was later treated by medical services.

Investigators revealed that the accused has a history of alleged assaults.

He was charged with assault and assault to cause bodily harm through choking, suffocating or strangling.

The man, whose name wasn't released in order to protect the identity of the victim, has been released from police custody and scheduled to appear in court on May 19, 2026.
