Four area drivers charged with impaired, stunt driving

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent had another busy weekend on the roads.

Police arrested four drivers for allegedly driving while impaired and for driving too fast.

The first was shortly after midnight on Saturday in Lakeshore. A patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on Manning Road near North Talbot Road.

A 52-year-old man from Chatham is charged with driving while impaired, driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration, and dangerous driving.

He was also charged with two counts of opioid possession with intent to sell, and one count of cocaine possession with intent to sell.

The second incident involved a one-vehicle crash on County Road 34 in Kingsville, which occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday.

A 58-year-old Windsor woman is charged with driving while impaired, driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration, and dangerous driving.

The OPP then responded to a crash just after 9 p.m. on Sunday, on Erie Street South near Seacliff Drive in Leamington.

A 31-year-old Leamington resident is charged with driving while impaired and driving with excessive blood-alcohol.

Finally, a 24-year-old Windsor man was stopped by Elgin County OPP on the westbound 401 in Chatham-Kent, shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Monday. The driver was clocked going 162 kilometres per hour in a 100-kilometre-per-hour zone.

He was charged with stunt driving.

The charges in all cases have yet to be proven in court.
