Ridgetown house fire causes $500K in damage

A house fire in Ridgetown is believed to have caused $500,000 in damage.

Chatham-Kent Fire & Rescue (CKFR) received the call shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters from both Orford and Ridgetown stations responded to the blaze at a home on Ebenezer Street West.

According to officials, the house was engulfed in flames when crews arrived, rapidly spreading throughout the home.

The fire was controlled through extended suppression efforts, with crews remaining on scene to extinguish any remaining hot spots.

Chatham-Kent EMS, Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS), Entegrus, and Enbridge Gas also responded.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
