Five arrested in early morning drug bust in Chatham

Chatham-Kent (CK) police have arrested five people and seized fentanyl from a home in Chatham.

Police said they searched a house on St. Clair Street in Chatham shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday and arrested two women and three men, all between the ages of 29 and 44 and all from Chatham.

Police noted the search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of fentanyl.

The seizure included approximately 86.5 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $8,650, measuring cups and a blender containing suspected fentanyl, a rifle-style BB gun, digital scales, packaging materials, and cell phones, according to CK police.

The suspects were arrested inside the home and all face possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking charges. One woman allegedly in possession of a BB gun and a controlled substance was charged with failing to comply with her probation.
