UPDATE: Barnstormers re-sign three players for 2026

The reigning Rookie of the Year in the Canadian Baseball League is returning to Chatham-Kent.

Evan Morrison has re-signed with the Barnstormers for the 2026 season.

The second baseman from Wheatley was the league batting champion last season, hitting .422, was second in hits with 65, third in total bases with 88, and was in the top 5 in on-base percentage (OBP) with .452, and slugging with .571.

Morrison was also named a first-team league all-star and won the Brian Kerr Memorial Trophy as the League Rookie of the Year.

The Barnstormers bullpen is also filling out with two signings.

Lefty Yuri O'Connor-Yokoyama is back for 2026. The Montreal-native pitched in 16 games in his rookie season in 2025, started 11 and picked up 5 wins. His 4.26 earned run average (ERA) was the best on the team.

All-star closer Garret Day is returning. The 6'5 righty from Chatham had 11 career saves and is in the top 15 on the CBL's all-time save list.

The 2026 Barnstormers season kicks off on Friday, May 15, when Chatham hosts Guelph at Fergie Jenkins Field at 7:35 p.m.
