CK police charge man for allegedly choking woman

A 22-year-old man has been charged after allegedly choking a woman in Chatham.

At around 9:10 p.m. on December 24, Chatham-Kent (CK) police were called to a home on Princess Street South for a potential assault.

A 39-year-old woman told officers that a man had grabbed her throat and started to choke her.

She also claimed that the man threatened to hurt her.

The man was known to the police as he was wanted for violating his bail conditions.

Officers later found the man and arrested him. While being booked, the man allegedly spat on an officer.

He's since been charged with assault, uttering threats, assaulting a peace officer, and resisting a peace officer.
