Two Chatham-Kent residents were recently recognized at the National Philanthropy Day Awards ceremony, put on by the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Canada South Chapter.
Bob Hockney, the former Chair of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) Board of Directors, was named the Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer.
"As Past Chair of the CKHAF Board, [Hockney] played a key role in advancing important hospital initiatives and continues to volunteer his time to build strong donor and community relationships," read a statement.
Mike Genge, president of the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent (CTC Foundation), was also named Outstanding Fundraising Professional.
"Under his leadership, the CTC Foundation led a community campaign that raised over $10 million and successfully secured an additional $59 million from the Province of Ontario, enabling the creation of a state-of-the-art new Children’s Treatment Centre," read a statement.
Genge has over 25 years of experience in the philanthropy sector. He previously helped raise around $96 million for the CKHAF, Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre, and Chatham-Kent Hospice.
