Assaulted Twice

A 36-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting his partner.

Chatham-Kent (CK) police were called to a home on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, where they were met by a 30-year-old woman suffering from injuries.

Police say the woman told officers that her partner had assaulted her the day before. When leaving, the accused allegedly punched a glass window, shattering the glass.

Later in the day, the suspect allegedly came back and assaulted the woman again.

Officers arrested the man, charging him with assault, assault causing bodily harm, and mischief.

He's since been released from police custody with a future court date.

Stolen Vehicle

CK police have charged a 47-year-old woman from Walpole Island after she was allegedly caught driving a stolen vehicle.

At around 9:20 p.m. on Friday, a 75-year-old man from Wallaceburg reported that his vehicle had been taken.

Later that evening, police found the vehicle being driven on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, the only person in the vehicle at the time.

She's been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and driving while suspended.

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.

CK police charge woman with assault

According to Chatham-Kent police, the victim was walking around King Street East in Chatham when she was approached by a woman she didn't know and struck in the face.
