Remembrance Day ceremonies to be held across CK

Communities across Chatham-Kent will host parades and ceremonies on Tuesday to mark Remembrance Day.

The following is a list of events across CK:

Blenheim

Ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m. and will last until noon.

The parade will start at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #185 (34 Catherine Street). It will go north on Catherine Street, east on Talbot Street West, and north on George Street to St. Mary's Hall (94 George Street) for a Remembrance Day Service.

After the service, the parade will reform and head back the same route in reverse, ending at the Legion.

Bothwell

Bothwell's ceremonies will last from 10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The parade will begin at Zone Township Central School (730 Main Street North) and proceed south on Main Street North to the Cenotaph (334 Main Street North) for the Remembrance Day Service.

Following the service, the parade will go south on Main Street North, then east on George Street East, and conclude at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #252 (162 George Street East).

Chatham

Chatham's parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 642 (39 William Street North). The parade route will see participants travel south on William Street, then west on King Street West to the Cenotaph on Sixth Street for a Remembrance Day Service.

The parade will travel the same route back to the Legion on William Street, with all ceremonies concluding at noon.

Dresden

Ceremonies in Dresden will start at Fire Station 6 (185 Lindsley Street) and will last from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The parade will go west on Lindsley Street, then south on St. George Street South to the Cenotaph on Queen Street. The parade will reform and proceed west on Queen Street West, north on Centre Street, and east on Lindsley Street to the fire station.

Erieau

Ceremonies will take place a little later in Erieau. They will run from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The parade will start at 875 Mariners Road and proceed east on Mariners Road, north on Nichols Avenue, and west on Ross Lane to the Veterans Memorial Garden. A wreath-laying ceremony will take place before the parade reforms. It will then head west on Ross Lane, south on the CK Fire service road, and east on Mariners Road before ending where it began.

Merlin

In Merlin, everything will begin at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #465 (2 Stanley Street).

The parade will proceed west on Stanley Street, north on Erie Street South, and continue north on Erie Street North to the Cenotaph at Kinsmen Park (10 Erie Street North). After a wreath service, the parade will go south on Erie Street North, then east on Aberdeen to the Merlin Community Hall (150 Aberdeen Street) for a Remembrance Day Service.

The parade will reform again after the service and head west on Aberdeen Street, south on Erie Street South, east on Stanley Street and end at the Legion.

The ceremonies will last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ridgetown

Starting at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #243 (73 Main Street East), events will kick off at 9:30 a.m. and last until 12 p.m.

The parade will go south on Broadway Avenue, west on Ebenezer Street East, north on Church Street, and east on Main Street East to the Cenotaph (61 Main Street East) for a Remembrance Day Service.

The parade will head east on Main Street East and south on Broadway Avenue after the service, concluding at the Legion.

Tilbury

Tilbury's ceremonies will go from 10 a.m. to noon.

The parade will start at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #206 (4 Stewart Avenue) and proceed west on Stewart Avenue, then north on Queen Street to the Cenotaph at Canal Street East for a Remembrance Day service.

After the service, the parade will reverse its route to end back at the Legion.

Wheatley

The parade in Wheatley will form up in the parking lot at the Wheatley United Church (59 Talbot Road West). Participants will go south on Victoria Street North, then east on Talbot Road West to the Cenotaph (35 Talbot Road West) for a Remembrance Day Service.

The parade will reform after the service and head back down the same route to end at the church.

Ceremonies will last from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
