Over $38K raised at CK's 'Handbags for Hospice' fundraiser

Thousands of dollars were raised at a fundraiser for the Chatham-Kent Hospice.

The "Handbags for Hospice" event took place in October, with around 300 people participating in a night of games and prizes.

This included 12 games of Bingo and a raffle table with prizes donated by community members and local businesses.

All the proceeds, which crept over $38,000, will be used to help take care of everyone living their final days at the hospice.

This was the largest amount raised at a local "Handbags for Hospice" event in the past seven years. The previous record of $34,000 was raised during the 2024 event.

"These funds ensure our residents and their families receive compassionate care and grief support, at no cost to them," said Brock McGregor, the executive director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.

In total, these events have been able to raise around $233,000.
